The beat goes on: The music industry in the 21st Century

The music industry’s efforts to innovate and survive on a playing field radically altered by technology will be the focus of a C2-MTL panel discussion on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Charles “Chuck” Comeau, drummer for the Montreal-based international superstars, Simple Plan,
J Erving, President and CEO of Atlanta’s JEG entertainment management group, and François-Charles Sirois, President and CEO of media and technology startwww.c2montreal.comp incubator, Telesystems, will join host and digital media guru Mitch Joel to discuss topics including effective business models for the music industry and the central role of digital content platforms, direct-to-fan initiatives, and the increasing need for a strong brand experience.

Charles “Chuck” Comeau is drummer and one of the main songwriters for Simple Plan, which he helped found 1999. The Montreal-based band has since gone on to sell nearly four million albums in the U.S. and Canada, and more than 7.5 million albums worldwide.

J Erving is a music entrepreneur and founder of the Julius Erving Group (JEG), an Atlanta-based entertainment management company specializing in R&B and hip hop artists and producers.

François-Charles Sirois has more than 15 years of experience in corporate mergers, acquisitions and financings. His entrepreneurship expertise and talent for developing successful joint ventures with innovative partners in the media and technology industry.

Mitch Joel is President of Twist Image – one of the largest independent Digital Marketing agencies in North America. Blogger, podcaster and entrepreneur, he has been called a marketing and communications visionary, interactive expert and community leader.
