Brave new (virtual) world
C2 Theme:
Since 2003, the Linden Lab-created Second Life has been the go-to destination for virtual world builders, a community for millions of people to create, socialize, learn and prosper. Now, under Ebbe Altberg, Linden Lab is updating the concept and taking it to another dimension with Sansar, which aims to provide users with a fully-realized social and commercial virtual reality experience. Sansar is not a singular, cohesive virtual world, but rather a platform for social VR. Ebbe’s vision for Sansar is to deliver experiences immediately via multiple access points, not unlike how we generally use the web today. He’s spent the last 25 years leading teams creating software, products, media and platforms at places like Microsoft, Ingenio and Yahoo!, and aims to similarly position Sansar at the heart of our collective experience of the internet.
“Sansar will do for virtual experiences what WordPress has done for the Web.”
