From backpacks to financial institutions to Big Tops, Jean-François Bouchard’s wide-ranging creative gaze has covered a lot of countryside. An engineer and designer by training, the colourful Chief Creative Officer & Creative Guide for the world's leading creator of spectacular live productions began to make a name for himself designing interiors for well-known Montreal-area bars, restaurants and boutiques, as well as several financial institutions, including branches of the Bank of Nova Scotia and the Royal Bank, shortly after graduating school. (Fun fact: as a student, he designed the prototype for a backpack that converted into a tent which was then purchased by the U.S. Army.) Jean-François caught the eye of Cirque du Soleil as a freelancer in the late-’90s, and his rapid ascension thereafter would see him assume the mantel of Chief Creative Officer and Creative Guide. As Creative Guide, Jean-François Bouchard supports the company’s creative ventures, all the while providing challenging opportunities to talented young designers.
“What we want above all is to make people dream.”
