Retail visionary
C2 Theme:
Mindy Grossman, a regular fixture on Forbes’ 100 most powerful women in the world list, says (with a nod to Winnie the Pooh) she doesn’t hire cynical Eeyores, only optimistic Tiggers. Her belief that long-term, successful and sustainable companies must have an engaged employee culture is part of a far-ranging vision that helped the former Nike and Ralph Lauren senior executive reinvent and relaunch what today is known as HSNi. In 2008, she took the company public, positioning it as a leader in boundaryless retail. Between HSNi’s two operating segments, HSN and the portfolio of Cornerstone lifestyle brands, Mindy spearheaded the creation of a seamless shopping experience across multiple channels: television, catalogue, online and mobile. Over half of the company’s revenue is now generated through digital commerce. Mindy – a 38-year veteran of the retail and apparel industries with a proven history of industry-changing innovations – currently oversees its multi-billion-dollar retail portfolio and expansion of its distributed commerce model.
