May 25, 2016 – Montréal (Quebec) – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The Honourable Bardish Chagger, Minister of Small Business and Tourism, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced today that the organization C2 Montréal is receiving $1.5 million in financial assistance to hold its annual international business and creativity conference in business circles in 2016 and 2017.
That financial assistance is divided into two equal parts, namely $750,000 per year. It is awarded in the form of a non-repayable contribution under CED’s Quebec Economic Development Program. C2 Montréal, the non-profit organization founded by Sid Lee and the Cirque du Soleil, draws on the Montreal business community, including entrepreneurs, artists as well as foundations and organizations that support entrepreneurship, innovation and the social economy.
CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
• C2 Montréal aims to build connections and foster the solving of business issues through the sharing of innovative ideas, learning and cooperation, all in a unique, stimulating setting.
• Through its formula and approach, C2 Montréal acts as a catalyst with the aim of guiding companies’ strategies for innovation and competitiveness.
• The funding awarded will enable the organization to promote its annual conference abroad and facilitate B2B networking events, including those of SMEs as part of the planned business workshops and meetings, including SME Day, which is happening today.
“C2 Montreal is an incredible experience–a collision of commerce and creativity that is at the heart of how our Government sees innovation: lead by entrepreneurs and creative minds from across Canada. That’s why our government is proud to invest in this important event that is producing the ideas of our future economy.”
The Honourable Bardish Chagger, Minister of Small Business and Tourism
“The C2 Montréal team would like to thank the government for the ongoing trust that it places in us. For five years now, C2 Montréal has been enabling managers and creative types to question the status quo, alter their way of doing things and redefine the business world. The government’s support is essential to deploying initiatives that companies directly benefit from and that make it possible to deliver high-quality content based on new ideas.”
Mr. Richard St-Pierre, President, C2 Montréal 2
